Baby Liam says Hi

I was admitted into Parkway East at 5p.m. When my gyn arrived shortly after, he told me that he will break my water to start active labour and told me that i will probably deliver by midnight as my cervix was very thin and already 4cm dilated.

The nurses explained to me the 3 options i had for pain management which included Laughing gas, an injection to the thigh ( i am not sure what this does) and finally an epidural.

I told my gyn that i was prepared to give natural birth a try and will holdout on the epidural unless the pain becomes impossible.

After my water broke, the contractions started coming in more quickly and closer together. I was sucking on the laughing gas regularly until REAL pain started to kick in 2 hours later.

I told the nurse to give me an injection to the thigh at about 8pm. Unfortunately, the injection didn't help with the pain so i had to suck in more and more laughing gas. The injection did however relax my muscles and i was quickly dilated to 9 cm and had a HUGE urge to push.

By this time i was already completely high on laughing gas and delirious with pain that i could not do anything else but push. At about 9:15 p.m my gyn did an episiotomy and my baby boy was born at 9:25 pm with about 3-4 pushes.
